AS/NZS1716 P2 is the Australia/New Zealand equivalent to the USA N95 classification.

N95 and KN95 Requires a minimum 95% filtration efficiency for small particles.

P2 requires 94% filtration, but are manufactured to exceed this requirement.

Despite these varied test methods, the difference in protection to the wearer is negligible.

Surgical masks provide significantly less filtration and fit than P2 masks.  Their primary function is to protect others from particles expelled by the wearer.
